Phew, I just had a big essay to write and I have been super stressed out! It's all done now and I have no more in-course assessment this term apart from lab work but that doesn't really count because most of it's pretty straight forward. Hopefully more blog posts next week!

Pure Magic

How I wish we had starry nights like this in the city. Stupid light pollution.

Inspiration, Part 2

I'm looking to nature again with this inspiration post but this one's more focused on magic and wicca and tribes and fairytales. Yes.. that Lula video probably has something to do with with this one!

Sorry, I'm sure a lot of you are sick of seeing it now but I had to post it!

Jane of Sea of Shoes posted this headband (top left) ages ago now but I still can't get it out of my head. It doesn't get more magical than this! Definitely one to go down on the DIY list.. could be recreated with hair extensions perhaps? I found the Annah Stretton picture on Fashion Toast but I can't seem to find her A/W '10 collection anywhere online which is a shame because this look is really beautiful. I love the fur capelet (though I do hope it's fake), another possible DIY? I thought maybe I could take a match to some fake fur to create burnouts and give it a sort of primitive look although saying that I think most fake fur is synthetic and it would probably just melt.

The wolf photograph was the overall winner of a recent BBC photography competition, isn't it stunning? And who would've guessed I'd one day being taking inspiration from the Ice Queen of Narnia. I have to admit, I think her head piece is ah-mazing!

Hello

The past couple of weeks have been so busy for me but I hope to finally do part two of my inspiration post sometime this weekend. In the meantime I'll leave you with a picture of some super sweet brooches that Kathryn made for me as part of a swap we did. I still can't get over how lovely they are!

Inspiration, Part 1

I've been thinking quite a lot recently about what I want to wear this Autumn and into next year so I thought I'd do an inspiration post to sort of clarify things. Usually I'd do this over at my other blog but.. I've sort of given up hope with it! I'm bad enough at updating one blog, I don't know why or how I thought I'd ever be capable of running two! So, I'll continue to do fashion posts and the like but I'll do it over here. I know I'm constantly changing things around here but I'm still finding my feet!

Anyway, at the moment I'm feeling drawn to anything that has a bit of a camping vibe to it which is sort of ironic seeing as camping tends to be more of a summer activity. I think it's partly to do with the S/S 09-10 shows, most especially the Rachel Comey show which I first saw over at Clever Nettle.

In fact I seem to love anything to do with the countryside/forest, such as muted, earthy colours, plaid and faded denim. I'm also hoping at some point this winter to find a parka in the perfect shade of army green.

Finally, at least for today, a bit of video inspiration. I love the fleet foxes and these girls have done an amazing cover. Plus they're wearing plaid and singing in a forest!

There's more I want to post about but I'll save that for a part 2. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

New Digs!

It's currently windy and rainy outside, the perfect weather for curling up with a cup of tea and getting on with a blog post. We're all settled in at the flat now and my room is for the most part finished but there are still a few bits I need to get. It's quite a small room but I've managed somehow to get all of my stuff in with room to spare for a small bookshelf that I'm currently on the hunt for.

Collage 2
These are sat on my new-old desk which I picked up from a second hand store before my Dad left with the car. There was one in my room already but it was bright blue chipboard with coffee cup burns all over the top. Needless to say, it had to go!

Collage 3
My Polaroid wall's looking pretty empty at the moment, but I have another pack of film in the fridge (much to the amusement of my flat mates) to fill it out a little..

Collage 4
Having such a small room means there's not much surface space for displaying treasure; nearly all of mine has ended up sitting pretty on the one shelf I have in my room. I tried to photograph it as a single picture but I couldn't move far away enough to get it all in the shot, ha, that's how small my room is. It's cosy though. It's also probably a good thing that my space is restricted because it'll make me think more about what I can afford to bring home.

Naturally, I've already paid a visit to all the antique shops and charity shops in my area and come up with a lamp shade that perhaps veers a little too much on the side of 'Grandma' (but I love it!) and yet another of those flower domes that I've become so fond of. Except this one is tiny! I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture but the flowers are real, which sort of detracts from the tackiness I think. Sort of. The little perfume bottle came from eBay. Looks like it belongs in a French boudoir, don't you think?

Hi! Just wanted to say I'm not going to have the internet until next Wednesday so I won't be able to post until then but moving has gone well and the flat is great. Thanks for all your sweet comments below, will reply soon!
